THIS IS RAY

I really don't like to talk about myself much. Guess I'm too interested in others.
I am part of the baby-boomer generation. I caught the last of the nations "golden years". From there I went through the "hippie" era. I always wanted to write, but I knew what a "starving artist is so I went to work at a 'more conventional' job. This was, of course, a huge mistake. I kind of drifted from career to career and quickly tired of each one. The only thing, other than writing, I enjoyed was cooking. I love to create culinary masterpieces.
The problem was I just didn't really like my jobs. I kept thinking "there must be a better way" "there has to be more to it all than this". So I just kept trying out different things, never getting anywhere. Never really having anything to show for my efforts.
I served my country (twice) both times on an FBM (fleet ballistic missile) submarine. I was a cook, a construction worker (grunt), a personal caretaker for 11+ yr. And on it went.
As you have probable guessed by now, I have traveled a lot. I have been through the lower 48 states, as well as Mexico, Canada, Scotland, London England, and bits of Spain.
I am fairly well educated, mostly self-taught, and have a fair I.Q. I obtained my GED even before I got to high school and did two years in college. I attend multiple classes while in the military such as basic electronics, magnetic amplifiers, bullion math, gyros mark 4 and mark 14, conalog (computerized steering system), and so forth.
So why wasn't I happy? I could pretty much have whatever I wanted. No, my friend, until you begin doing what you were meant to do, you will never be happy.
As I said, I can't remember a time when I didn't want to write. I'm also passionate about people. So my thing is to write things to help others. And that's what I do now.
Though I have lived in many states, my current residence is in Michigan. It's cold and wet here, but I love the hardwood trees and wildlife here.
It is my belief (one I did not come to lightly) that any one can do anything if you just know how. I also believe there is more to life than mere living. I believe life is a wondrous adventure! So if anything I write helps you I have fulfilled my destiny.
Thanx for taking the time to read this and please come anytime.
